Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi was the prominent ruler of Ghaznavid Empire and became the first ever ruler to get the title of Sultan. Mahmud Ghaznavi was the political leader of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Northern India, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan whereas Abbasid Caliph remained the religious leader of Muslim empire. -
